HRB in Annapolis Junction, MD is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager for a 2-3 month contract with potential for permanent hire. The role centers on owning core accounting processes in a fast-paced environment, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities include leading the monthly close, preparing and posting journal entries, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, assisting payroll accounting, performing reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong General Ledger and month-end close experience.
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• AP, AR, and payroll accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Great Plains is a significant plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the monthly close process
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing
• Assist with or oversee payroll accounting activities
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy
• Support financial reporting and ensure timely, accurate accounting records
