Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking an Accountant III in Houston to perform routine to complex accounting tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting in line with GAAP. You will support inter-company analyses and assist with audits and SOX requests.

The role requires aBachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least four years of financial reporting experience, with SEC familiarity and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
• Four (4) years of financial reporting experience or equivalent.
• Familiarity with SEC reporting requirements and consolidation accounting.

Responsibilities

• Performing and reviewing reconciliations.
• Completing trial balances and journal entries.
• Preparing work papers, schedules and reports.
• Examines accounting documents to verify accuracy of computations.
• Ensures transactions comply with policies and GAAP.
• Demonstrates or explains accounting practices as requested.
• Prepares accounting reports and schedules.
• Prepares analysis of inter-company relationships and transactions.
• Uploads journal entries monthly.
• Prepares account reconciliations for department accounts.
• May prepare financial statements and foreign currency translations.
• Prepares various reports for GAAP compliance.
• Responds to SOX and internal audit requests.
• Assists with special projects and guides lower level staff.
