Job summary

The Georgia Department of Defense in Marietta seeks a Senior Accountant to manage complex reconciliations, financial reporting, and year-end closing, ensuring compliance with state and federal fund regulations.

You will oversee federal/state AR, capital assets, bank reconciliations, and internal/external financial reports, collaborating across agencies to maintain GAAP standards and robust controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and three (3) years of professional accounting job-related experience; or two (2) years at Accountant 3 level.
• Five (5) or more years of current or recent State of Georgia accounting experience.
• Recent functional knowledge of GL and AR in Workday (GA@WORK).
• Experience with federal funding and GAAP application in accounting systems.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, formulas, and V-Lookups.

Responsibilities

• Oversee federal/state AR, capital asset accounting, maintain all bank recons, and complete other comprehensive ledger reconciliations.
• Year-end close & reporting and develop internal/external financial reports.
• Review and analyze general ledger balances to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Apply GAAP within the accounting system and ensure compliance with policies.
• Assist with developing new financial policies and provide accounting expertise across departments.
