Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team in the Chicago area. This role will support month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and ongoing accounting operations, partnering with leadership and business teams to ensure accurate reporting and drive strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in GAAP and financial reporting, with 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with GAAP knowledge.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Excel with Pivot Tables and lookups.
• Experience with ERP systems; CPA or CPA-track preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit engagements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Assist with the development and enhancement of accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Support process improvement and automation initiatives.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial information and business support.
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting requests.
