Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Senior Accountant to uphold GAAP-compliant financial records, manage month-end and year-end closes, and prepare reports for leadership. You will assist audits, grant reporting, and strengthen internal controls to support our nonprofit mission.

You will collaborate across departments, monitor grant expenditures, and contribute to budgets and forecasts while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field.
• 5–7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• 2 years nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Experience preparing financial statements, leading close, and supporting audits.
• Experience with grant accounting, fund accounting, and government funding is highly preferred.
• CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsabilités

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by staff.
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Prepare monthly statements, management reports, and financial analyses for leadership.
• Monitor grant expenditures and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Prepare grant reimbursement requests and related schedules.
• Assist in budgeting and periodic forecasts.
• Lead audit schedule preparation and liaise with external auditors.
• Recommend improvements to accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Provide training and support to staff accountants and finance colleagues.
