Job summary

Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority in Akron, OH is seeking a Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting & General Ledger. The role reports to the Director of Finance and is responsible for accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting, and HUD compliance across AMHA programs.

Responsibilities include posting complex journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with month-end and year-end closes, preparing Financial Data Schedule components, and supporting audits and tax reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum five years of accounting experience; governmental/public housing experience preferred.
• CPA, CGFM, or other relevant certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close and HUD reporting.
• Develop audit schedules and respond to audit requests.
• Maintain records for multiple programs and grant accounting.
• Support external audits and component-unit reporting.
