Job summary

Akronhousing in Akron, OH is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead financial reporting and general ledger activities. The role reports to the Director of Finance and supports HUD-related reporting and compliance.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and at least five years of progressive accounting experience, with strong Excel and GAAP knowledge. A CPA or CGFM is preferred. Relocation or benefits are included as part of a comprehensive package.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices.
• Governmental or public housing accounting experience preferred.
• CPA/CGFM or equivalent certification preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong reconciliation abilities.
• Experience with HUD programs and grants is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and posts complex journal entries and reconciliations.
• Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations and researches discrepancies.
• Prepares Financial Data Schedule components and HUD reporting support.
• Supports month-end/year-end close and audit requests.
• Assists with ACFR preparation and tax credit compliance.
