Job summary

Fortem Technologies, based in Lindon, Utah, seeks a Senior Accountant to manage monthly close, GL, and inventory/accounting processes. This hands-on role collaborates with Controller, AP, and AR to strengthen close processes and improve reconciliations, while researching issues beyond routine transactions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, ERP experience (Odoo a plus), and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong month-end close.
Strong GAAP and accrual accounting knowledge.
Experience with complex balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
ERP experience; Odoo a plus.
Strong Excel skills with large data sets and reconciliation schedules.
Ability to independently research accounting discrepancies and resolve issues.
Attention to detail with awareness of overall financial statement impact.
Experience in a fast-paced environment with process improvement.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain monthly general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
Support month-end close processes with journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
Reconcile inventory-related accounts and COGS impacts.
Coordinate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, AP to resolve differences.
Prepare prepaid expenses and fixed asset schedules (amortization, depreciation).
Assist with customer billing and invoicing accuracy.
Research and resolve billing discrepancies with AR and Sales teams.
Review revenue-related accounts including deferred revenue and unbilled receivables.
Monitor unusual GL activity and propose corrections.
Support tax, audits, and other recurring accounting tasks.
