Job summary

Essent Group Ltd. in Radnor, PA seeks an experienced Senior Accountant for in-office operations. The role focuses on general ledger entries, close processes, and regulatory reporting in the mortgage insurance/financial services space.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, CPA preferred, and a proven ability to analyze financial data, manage audits, and improve controls through technology and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules for the general ledger.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and financial reporting deadlines.
• Assist in preparation and filing of financial statements, regulatory filings, and related workpapers.
• Maintain monthly closing binder with balance sheet reconciliations and strong internal controls.
• Perform variance analyses and provide insights to management.
• Support internal and external audit activities and respond to inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC, SAP/SOX where applicable, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls via automation.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting and alignment.
• Mentor staff accountants, interns, and co-ops; conduct reviews and training.
