Job summary

The role ensures accuracy of data, assists with the close process, and aids regulatory filings in GAAP and SEC contexts. You will prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and provide analyses for management, while collaborating across teams to strengthen internal controls and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting experience in financial services or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with SEC reporting, SOX controls, and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for the general ledger.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Assist in preparing and filing financial statements, regulatory filings, and related workpapers.
• Maintain monthly closing binder and strong internal controls including reconciliation of key accounts.
• Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management.
• Support audits and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company accounting policies.
• Identify process improvements to enhance monthly close efficiency.
• Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for accurate reporting.
• Mentor staff accountants, interns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
