Job summary

El Paso Community College (EPCC) seeks a Senior Accountant to support the Associate Comptroller in managing the District’s accounting processes and financial reporting. This in-person role is essential to campus operations and interacts with multiple departments on a day-to-day basis.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree with four years of related experience, strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, and payroll reporting, and proven ability to lead, train staff, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
• Proficient in modern accounting principles and internal controls.
• Knowledge of accounting regulations and GAAP.
• Knowledge of community college policies and procedures.
• Proficient in Excel for financial reporting.
• Knowledge of payroll related reports.
• Ability to reconcile and analyze financial data.
• Ability to prepare financial reports and statements.
• Ability to interpret budget expenditures for compliance.
• Ability to meet deadlines and priorities.
• Ability to lead and train staff.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the District's accounting processes and financial reporting.
• Perform senior level accounting duties, including analysis and reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end closings and chart of accounts maintenance.
• Prepare work papers for external auditors and liaise with budget heads.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and grants/contracts regulations.
• Contribute to ERP system improvements and process automation.
• Oversee accounts, billings, and reporting to agencies as directed.
• Provide guidance to other accountants and external contacts.
• Act in Associate Comptroller's absence and handle special assignments.
