Job summary

Nienhuis Financial Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee client accounting operations and ensure financial compliance for a diverse client base. The role emphasizes managerial accounting insight and a proactive approach to deadlines in a fast-paced firm.

Travel to Grandville and Kalamazoo areas may be required to meet client needs and deliver timely financial services. Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting software is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience.
• 2 years’ experience in Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable.
• 2 years payroll experience.
• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Reconciles customer accounts.
• Verifies payment of invoices and accounts payable and ensures correct charges.
• Provides outside auditors with assistance and gathers necessary documents for audits.
• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies.
• Assists with payroll, fixed assets, trial balances, and related tasks as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
