Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. seeks an Accountant III to manage accurate financial reporting, month-end close, and reconciliations for Liberty Utilities. You will work cross-functionally with operations, regulatory, and FP&A teams to ensure GAAP compliance and control improvements.

Responsibilities include journal entry posting, monthly and year-end close, audit support, and process enhancements, with SAP and advanced Excel skills highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Experience with GAAP and SOX controls.
• Experience with journal entries and account reconciliations.
• SAP experience and strong Excel skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries per closing schedule.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and schedules.
• Investigate and explain variances and unusual activity.
• Support audits and respond to audit requests.
• Maintain reconciliations of balance sheet and GL accounts.
