Job summary

Bennett & Pless, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant for our Atlanta office. You will support general ledger activity, AP/AR, month-end close, and financial reporting across entities. This role requires detail-oriented, analytical, and cross-department collaboration to ensure accurate reporting.

The candidate will work with project accounting teams, contribute to audits, and drive process improvements while adhering to internal controls. CPA progress is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience, preferably within the AEC industry
• Strong experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, year-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and internal controls
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Acumatica, Ajera, Vantagepoint or similar
• CPA certification or progress toward certification is a plus

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day general accounting activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries per GAAP and policies
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Prepare financial statements and management reports
• Manage accounts receivable activities including invoicing and collections
• Monitor aging reports and resolve outstanding payables/receivables
• Collaborate with project accountants for project financial support
• Assist with project closeout activities and data accuracy
• Assist with annual audit requests and documentation
• Identify and implement process improvements in accounting practices
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and reporting procedures
• Provide backup for critical accounting functions
• Serve as a technical accounting resource to the team
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile reconciling items
• Support acquisitions accounting integration and benefit payments reconciliation
