The Ocean Foundation, a DC-based nonprofit, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team and support financial operations across grant-funded programs. Responsibilities include processing accounts payable, recording deposits, reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts, and preparing monthly programmatic financial reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CMA or CMA-track strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably nonprofit/grant-funded/multi-entity.
• Progressive nonprofit or grant accounting experience preferred.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems skills.
• Substantial experience with federal grant compliance, cost allocation methodologies, and reporting; funder/governmental/compliance reporting preferred.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail with high accuracy and accountability.
• Experience in an internationally operating organization preferred.
• Must reside in the DC, MD and VA area.
