The role focuses on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, lender/investor deliverables, and quarterly valuation reviews, reporting to the Controller or Accounting leadership. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of accounting, CPA preferred, and strong Excel along with exposure to Yardi/Workiva.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• 2–3 years accounting experience.
• Public accounting experience, Big 4 strongly preferred.
• Audit background with at least two busy seasons.
• Real estate experience, preferably rental property.
• Advanced Excel; experience with Yardi and Workiva preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fund monthly reporting packages and GAAP financial statements.
• Prepare lender and investor reporting deliverables and NAV statements.
• Review external appraisals and internal valuation models for quarterly reporting.

Job description

MMC Group is hiring for a Sr. Accountant, Financial Reporting for our client who is a leading data-driven financial services and real estate investment platform that focuses on U.S. residential and commercial property markets. You will be joining a highly stable team with historically low turnover to step into a crucial backfill position. Ideally this candidate will work in-office in Austin, TX, but we are open to talking to candidates outside of Austin if based in Texas.

The Senior Accountant will support the company cross-functionally by preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, lender and investor reporting deliverables, and quarterly valuation reviews for internal management, portfolio management, lenders, and investors. This position will report to the Controller, Assistant Controller, Manager, or Accounting Supervisor depending on the department structure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare fund monthly reporting packages and GAAP financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and statement of changes in equity.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual lender and investor reporting deliverables, as well as investor NAV statements and supporting calculations for capital activity and allocations.
• Review third-party appraisals and internal valuation models, including DCF analyses and key assumptions, to support quarterly fair value financial reporting.
• Review contracts associated with fund reporting to ensure accounting and reporting are accurate and complete.
• Prepare analysis explaining material month-over-month and quarterly movements.
• Prepare journal entries to record financial activity and manage intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare wire requests for distributions and other ad hoc cash requests.
• Prepare annual audit reports, workpapers, and supporting schedules, and work alongside external auditors to ensure general ledger accounts are properly supported.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate requests and ensure the timely flow of information supporting financial reporting and analysis.
• Support automation initiatives and special projects to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Education: BS in Accounting; CPA preferred.
• Experience: 2-3 years of accounting experience.
• Public Accounting: Public accounting firm experience is highly preferred (Big 4 strongly preferred).
• Audit Background: Must have audit experience and have successfully completed at least two busy seasons.
• Industry Knowledge: Experience in real estate, preferably rental property, is preferred. Real estate client experience is a significant plus.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Yardi and Workiva is preferred.
• Innovation: Interest in or experience applying AI, automation, or other emerging technologies to improve accounting workflows.
• Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
