Job summary

NJ TRANSIT is seeking a dedicated accounting professional to monitor financial data, ensure accurate reporting, and support compliance with federal and state regulations. This role emphasizes pension-related reporting, close processes, and management reporting.

Responsibilities include preparing detailed management reports, government filings, audit support, and mentoring junior staff. A Bachelor's in accounting with 5 years of experience is required, with strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Oracle GL

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and five years of applied accounting experience.
• Experience with financial statements and footnotes.
• Experience with pension reports desired.

Responsibilities

• Monitors the accounting, reporting and control of financial data for accurate expenditures.
• Prepares and distributes detailed reports for management to facilitate financial information flow.
• Prepares government reports to meet compliance requirements.
• Reconciles financial data and prepares workpapers and statements for pension plans.
• Supports annual audit activities and prepares journal entries during monthly close.
• Prepares PowerPoint presentations for monthly board financial package.
• Oversees lower-level accountants on tasks and projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
