Job summary

Gallagher Bassett is seeking a Senior Accountant in the Chicago area to join our Finance team. You will play a key role in preparing financial statements, conducting analyses, and supporting month-end close and consolidations.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, at least 5 years of experience, and strong Excel skills. This on-site role offers a path for growth within a collaborative, enterprise-level environment with global reach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with at least 5 years of related experience.
• Broad knowledge of accounting practices and ability to prepare strategic recommendations.
• Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Present recommendations to management based on analysis.
• Prepare financial statements and public reports (balance sheet, cash flow, etc.).
• Handle general ledger activities, financial reports, and budget analysis.
• Produce timely, accurate financial information including P&L, balance sheets, and consolidations.
• Support month-end close, intercompany accounts, and cost center reporting where applicable.
• Mentor junior staff on financial compliance and processes.
