Job summary

Gallagher Bassett, a Gallagher entity, seeks a Senior Accountant in Rolling Meadows, IL. You will handle the general ledger, prepare financial statements, and present recommendations to management based on analysis.

This role supports month-end close, consolidations, and accurate financial reporting. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; Excel proficiency is essential, with JDE knowledge a plus.

• Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Present recommendations to management based on analysis.
• Prepare financial statements and public reports (balance sheet, cash flow statement).
• Handle complex general ledger activities and reporting.
• Produce timely, accurate financial information including P&L, balance sheets, and consolidations.
• Post accruals/prepayments, reconcile intercompany accounts, manage fixed asset registers and capital expenditure controls.
• Train less senior staff on financial compliance and procedures.

How you'll make an impact

We are hiring a Senior Accountant for our Gallagher Bassett team!

This role will be responsible for:

• Presenting recommendations to management based on analysis.


• Preparing financial statements and/or public reports (balance sheet, statement of cash flows, etc.).


• Most complex activities associated with general ledger, financial reports, and budget analysis.


• Producing timely, accurate and reliable financial information, including preparation of P& L, balance sheets, and group consolidations.


• May post accruals/prepayments, reconcile intercompany accounts, P&L and balance sheet accounts, manage & control the fixed asset register, capital expenditure controls & reporting, produce monthly consolidation reporting pack, produce statutory accounts, compute corporate tax (in conjunction with tax function) and/or analyze cost center reporting.


• Reviews the work of and trains (formally or informally) less senior staff on financial compliance issues.

About You

Required:

• Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration) and 5 years of related experience required.


• Requires broad knowledge of accounting practices/principles and preparation of strategic recommendations to management.


• Proficiency in Excel.

Preferred:

• 2-3 years of related experience.


• Experience with Accounting Month End Close Process.


• Strong time management and organizational skills.


• Accurate in completing work with a high attention to detail.


• Process improvement mindset.


• Experience with JDE is a plus.
