Job summary

Confidential in the Chicago Northwest Suburbs is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The role requires solid accounting fundamentals, intermediate to advanced Excel, and the ability to support colleagues across the department.

Responsibilities include general ledger entries, month-end close assistance, AP/AR processing, end-to-end ownership of assigned accounts, financial analysis, and supporting audits and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of accounting experience.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Own assigned accounts and processes end to end, reviewing work for accuracy and resolving discrepancies independently.
• Perform financial analysis and generate reports to support decision-making.
• Serve as a resource to junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and review support as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
