Job summary

R.L. Vallee, Inc is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our St. Albans, Colchester, or Berlin offices. The role focuses on timely posting of transactions, accurate reporting, and strong internal controls to support rapid multi-location growth.

You will work closely with finance leadership on close processes, financial statements, and management reporting while overseeing diverse revenue streams across travel center, fuel distribution, and retail operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Interest in multi-location, multi-entity retail, travel center, fuel distribution, and related industries.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and internal controls.
• Experience with consolidated financial reporting and intercompany accounting.
• Prior supervisory or accounting team leadership experience.
• Experience supporting audits, tax compliance, and bank relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in basic accounting software skills and interest in mastering PDI software.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily, weekly, and monthly accounting activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Lead month-end and year-end close for timely financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and policies.
• Oversee multiple revenue streams including fuel, retail, and services.
• Reconcile POS systems and bank cash activity across locations.
• Support inventory, fuel accounting, and operational reporting.
• Oversee AP/AR processes and vendor payments.
