Job summary

Slope, a fast-growing fintech company, seeks a hands-on Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager to own close, audits, and tax processes while supporting warehouse operations with capital markets. You’ll report to the CEO/co-founder and collaborate across finance, operations, engineering, and data science.

You will lead monthly close in QuickBooks, coordinate audits, manage cash reconciliations, and drive scalable finance workflows in a small, collaborative team with a San Francisco

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on accounting; ownership of monthly close and reconciliations.
• Public accounting experience preferred; fintech lending or startup experience is a plus.
• Experience running external audits from end to end.
• Hands-on expertise with QuickBooks, financial statements, and tax workflows.
• Familiarity with loan, equity accounting, and stock compensation.
• Startup mindset: autonomy, deadline-driven, desire to document processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration; low ego and good teamwork.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close in QuickBooks, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Run daily cash reconciliations across operating, collection, and lender accounts.
• Prepare remittance reports, bank transfers, and payments for approvals.
• Support borrowing-base calculations and related reporting with capital markets.
• Coordinate loan-sale settlements and loan ownership updates with engineering/capital markets.
• Lead annual audits with external firm; manage schedules and auditor requests.
• Manage tax workflows and coordinate with external tax advisors.
• Maintain accounting procedures, calendars, and backup coverage.
• Reconcile loan, revenue, equity, and stock compensation to the GL.
• Collaborate with engineering/data science to reconcile loan data with bank activity.
