Job summary

Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is seeking a seasoned accounting leader to oversee financial operations as Controller, managing AR/AP, GL, payroll, and reporting to support daily operations and board-level oversight.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting, 3+ years in accounting, CPA preferred, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to lead a small team in a collaborative environment. Experience with audits and regulatory compliance is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA license preferred, and 3+ years in general or tax accounting.
• Experience with computerized ledger systems, advanced Excel, and strong analytical skills.
• Must meet Park Board employment and background checks, including drug and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting department operations, including AR/AP, GL, and P.O. systems.
• Maintain ethical financials for CPRST Board and Foundation cash and investments.
• Recruit, train, and manage direct reports as needed.
• Plan and direct general accounting, payroll, cash receipts, and related financial operations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax reporting laws and financial reporting.
• Oversee year-end statements and budgets; provide monthly performance reports.
• Provide financial analysis to the Executive Director and CPRST management.
• Coordinate CPRST Finance Committee activities and records.
• Participate in senior management goals and strategic planning.
