Job summary

Achen Henderson CPAs is seeking a Senior Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of 10–30 clients, working remotely from the Philippines as an independent contractor. You’ll lead client meetings, ensure accurate books, and coordinate with specialists when needed.

You will own client relationships, perform full cycle bookkeeping, and ensure timely financial reporting while aligning with Canadian business hours. This role emphasizes strong communication and accounting controls.

Qualifications

• CPA designation (Philippines or equivalent).
• 5+ years post designation experience in public practice or shared services.
• 2+ years working with a Canadian accounting firm.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, with strong client communication skills.
• Proven expertise in QuickBooks Online.
• Strong experience in account reconciliations, month end entries and reviews, and managing client portfolios.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and set expectations.
• Tech savvy with advanced computer skills.
• Able to work night shift (aligned with Canadian hours).
• Self starter with strong attention to detail and multitasking ability.
• Comfortable working under an independent contractor arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Manage full cycle bookkeeping and accounting for a dedicated portfolio of 10 to 30 clients.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, leading client meetings and managing expectations.
• Perform account reconciliations and month end processes.
• Prepare accurate financial reports and support year end coordination.
• Convert client files between accounting systems as needed.
• Communicate directly with clients and respond to file specific accounting questions.
• Coordinate with tax, payroll, or other specialists when a client's needs go beyond bookkeeping.
• Identify file specific risks or issues early, resolving what you can and escalating when necessary.
• Improve internal and client processes and systems.
• Support automation and system efficiencies.
• Provide regular updates during team check ins.
• Contribute to a collaborative team culture.
