Job summary

Fervo Energy Co. is seeking a high-performing Senior Accountant to own core general ledger activities, lead month-end close, and strengthen internal control environments within a rapidly scaling energy company.

You will partner with the Assistant Controller, Controller, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and scalable processes as capital deployment increases. The role offers exposure to infrastructure-scale projects and grant-related accounting in a high-growth

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience, including month-end and year-end close ownership.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and preparation/review of full financial statements and disclosures.
• Experience designing, documenting, and improving internal controls in a growing or complex organization.
• Proven ability to manage complex accounting areas independently with strong judgment.
• Experience supporting external audits, including audit schedules, memos, and control documentation.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and improvement of internal controls across key accounting cycles.
• Establish and formalize accounting policies, identify gaps, and implement durable solutions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to embed financial discipline into processes.
• Drive system and workflow enhancements for accuracy and efficiency.
• Own components of monthly, quarterly, and annual close per US GAAP.
• Review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses with strong documentation.
• Lead analytical reviews of financial results and resolve issues with stakeholders.
• Coordinate audit deliverables with external auditors.
