Job summary

City of Bentonville is seeking an Accountant to oversee the processing of all disbursements (excluding payroll) and to ensure payments comply with city policies. The role will support reconciliations and contribute to departmental process improvements.

The successful candidate will supervise the Accounts Payable team, manage tax filings, and handle year-end processes while maintaining strong communication with vendors and city staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Six (6) years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee processing of all disbursements excluding payroll.
• Assist Accounting Manager with reconciliations and related tasks.
• Promote improvements to streamline departmental operations.
• Supervise AP department ensuring accurate, timely invoice processing.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of Accounts Payable to GL and manage P-Card program.
