Job summary

Notion is seeking a Senior Accountant for Corporate Accounting in San Francisco to own key areas of month-end close, prepare journal entries with documentation, and ensure timely, accurate reporting at scale.

You will partner with FP&A and cross-functional teams to explain fluctuations, support accurate statements, and leverage AI-enabled tools to streamline reconciliations. This role emphasizes controls, process improvements, and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accrual accounting.
• 5+ years with hands-on ownership of month-end close processes.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and an active, practical approach to using AI and automation to streamline accounting workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional partnerships and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels, including explaining fluctuations and their business drivers.
• Ownership, sound judgment, and a continuous-improvement mindset: you look for ways to make the work more accurate, scalable, and easier for others to build on.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned areas across monthly, quarterly, and annual close, prepare journal entries and adjustments with proper documentation.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and resolve items with a reliable rhythm for issue escalation.
• Explain variance drivers in management reporting, collaborating with FP&A to clarify numbers.
• Use AI-enabled tools to streamline analysis, reconciliations, and recurring workflows.
• Strengthen controls and processes across areas to support accurate financial statements.
• Drive scalable improvements across Corporate Accounting in collaboration with FP&A, AP, Legal, and other teams.
