Job summary

CFS in Washington, DC area seeks a Senior Accountant – Finance Operations to partner with leadership in a lean finance team, driving process improvements, month-end close, and financial reporting in a nonprofit setting with remote work flexibility.

You will manage reconciliations, support audits and Form 990, and participate in modernization efforts including Sage Intacct, contributing to system enhancements and documentation while maintaining high standards of accuracy.

Qualifications

• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of month-end close processes.
• Experience with general ledger reconciliations.
• Experience supporting audits/compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage account reconciliations including bank, GL, deferred revenue, investments, payroll/benefits, AP/accruals, and Shopify/eCommerce activity.
• Support month-end close, financial reporting, payroll processing, and compliance activities.
• Assist with audits, Form 990 preparation, and day-to-day operational accounting.
• Help improve accounting processes, procedures, workflows, and documentation.
• Support finance modernization initiatives including Sage Intacct implementation, reporting enhancements, and process automation.
• Partner cross-functionally with departments across the organization.

Senior Accountant – Finance Operations (Primarily Remote)

Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 + Bonus

Location: Washington, DC area preferred

Office Situation: Primarily Remote

Key Responsibilities
