Job Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Finance

Reports To: CFO

Compensation: $75,000.00-$85,000 per year; Compensation is negotiable based on experience

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting functions across multiple reporting entities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, payment and vendor management, recording business transactions, reconciling general ledger accounts, cash flow forecasting, reconciling revenue across platforms, and preparing consolidated financial statements.

This role will also lead the company’s tax-related accounting functions, including preparing for and coordinating multi-state tax filings. Given our fully remote workforce, employees across numerous states, and patients nationwide, experience with complex, multi-state tax compliance is essential.

We are an ambitious and curious team and we’re looking to grow with people who share that mindset. A strong candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently in a fully remote environment. This role requires someone who has solid follow-through on assignments and takes the time to understand the desired outcomes of each project. You must be able to proactively manage competing priorities and actively communicate progress and blockers.

The interview process will both behavioral questions and skills assessment. Please be prepared to discuss specific examples of times you have proactively created analysis or processes within previous roles and what outcomes this drove. The excel and skills part of the interview will review large sets of data and how you are able to derive insights from that dataset. Candidates will be asked to build pivot tables and sort and filter data during the interview.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead and execute month-end close processes within 5 business days of the end of the month
• Create and post all journal entries including payroll, amortization, revenue adjustments, and all accruals
• Manage the balance sheet including the preparation and oversight of all general ledger account reconciliations monthly
• Work closely with the payroll team to calculate and record all payroll-related entries
• Compile monthly financial statements and analysis packages for leadership review
• Update forecasts after each close and build out the organization’s KPI dashboard with assistance from the CFO
• Assist the Accounting Manager with the annual budget process across departments and entities
• Assist the Accounting Manager with establishing accounting policies and procedures
• Work with external parties such as auditors and tax teams to deliver requested information in an organized and repeatable way
• Manage and prepare multi-state tax filings and support the company’s tax compliance efforts, including coordination with external tax advisors
• Perform month-end consolidation and allocation entries across multiple entities and settle necessary cash transactions between entities
• Manage the accounts payable processes including reconciliation of all credit card accounts. Proactively manage relationships with vendors and payment terms and perform analysis of spend across various parties and platforms to drive insights into expenses
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration , or equivalent
• 3–5 years relevant experience working in a similar role within an internal accounting team
• Direct experience handling multi-state tax filings and familiarity with remote company tax compliance requirements
• Strong analytical skills and experience driving insights from large datasets in Excel
• Highly organized with the ability to streamline processes across the accounting function
• Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s Accounting and HRIS systems
• Experience working with QBO and ADP is preferred
• Experience with the Manufacturing and Healthcare Industries is preferred
• Experience in writing and working in SQL is a plus
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
