Job summary

Near is seeking a remote Senior Accountant to support U.S.-based clients. You will own the month-end close for multiple accounts, reconcile bank and credit card statements, and review P&Ls with accurate accruals and classifications across ecommerce clients.

You’ll work with Shopify/Amazon data, collaborate with AP/AR, and translate complex accounting concepts for non-finance stakeholders while meeting deadlines in a flexible remote setup.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of hands-on accounting, ideally in client-facing or outsourced roles.
• Proficient with QuickBooks Online.
• Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills: pivot tables and lookups.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant who is both technically strong and highly client-oriented. You will own the month-end close for a set of clients, work closely with AP/AR teammates, and act as a key point of contact for U.S.-based stakeholders. This role is ideal for someone proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative, who genuinely cares about clients and enjoys working in a flexible, remote environment.

You Will:

• Lead the full month-end close process for multiple clients.
• Handle bank and credit card reconciliations and manage balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare and review P&Ls, ensuring accurate accruals, prepaids, and classifications.
• Work with Shopify, Amazon, and other e-commerce data as part of the close.
• Support inventory and COGS reconciliations for inventory-based businesses.
• Collaborate with AP/AR team members who handle bill entry and collections.
• Communicate with clients via Slack and calls, answering questions and explaining results.
• Translate accounting concepts into clear, non-technical language for non-accountants.
• Meet agreed deadlines while working within a flexible schedule and remote setup.

About You:

Your Background:

• 3-7+ years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally in client-facing or outsourced roles.
• Strong, proven experience with QuickBooks Online (non-negotiable).
• Solid experience with:
• Bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills:comfortable with pivot tables, lookups, and handling datasets.
• Excellent english (spoken and written).
• High ownership and client-first mentality, you care about quality and client outcomes.
• Team player and collaborative, with strong reliability and accountability.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with:Ramp, Brex, Bill.com and other modern fintech/AP tools.
• Experience with:
• Inventory or inventory-based businesses.
• Consumer packaged goods (CPG).
• Prior experience in multi-client / agency-style accounting environments.
• Experience presenting financials to non-finance stakeholders.
• $3,000-$4,500 USD/month, depending on experience.
