Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation seeks a seasoned accounting professional to lead end-to-end financial processes, ensuring accurate GAAP reporting and SOX compliance. The role supports the Controller and partners with internal teams to deliver timely financial insights.

With 5+ years of accounting experience and CPA licensure, you will oversee GL activities, manage month-end close, and coordinate budgets, while working with external auditors and cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• CPA licensure is required.
• 5+ years accounting experience with 1-2 years supervisory experience.
• Operational knowledge of GAAP & SOX requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the general ledger.
• Prepare month-end close with journal entries, allocations, variance analysis, and reconciliations.
• Coordinate or assist with the budget process.
• Research accounting issues for GAAP compliance.
• Analyze and report cost variances.
• Liaise with external auditors.
• Support Controller as a business partner for accounting activities, reports, and analysis.
• Manage intercompany invoicing and reconciliation.
• Ensure SOX control compliance.
• Review variance reporting, investigate discrepancies, and propose corrective actions.
• Review warranty expenses and determine monthly provisions.
• Provide ad-hoc reporting and data-driven recommendations.
• Assist monthly closing with journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Prepare quarterly E&O analysis, and AR Allowance.
• Complete special projects as needed.
• Perform all other tasks as assigned.

Job description

• Managing all aspects of the general ledger.
• Prepare and assist in the month end close process for reporting including journal entries and allocations, variance analysis, balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
• Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Analyzing and reporting cost variances.
• Serving as a liaison to external auditors.
• Supports the Controller and communicates as a business partner/liaison for the Company to prepare accounting activities, financial reports, and analysis.
• Manage the intercompany invoicing and reconciliation process.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements.
• Review and analyze standard variance reporting, investigate discrepancies, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
• Review product warranty expenses and determine appropriate monthly provision.
• Provide internal departments with requested information by defining and developing ad-hoc reporting, analyzing data and provide recommendation based on analysis.
• Assist in the monthly closing activities by inputting appropriate journal entries, reconciliation of assigned accounts and recommending corrective actions.
• Prepare quarterly E&O analysis, and AR Allowance.
• Complete special projects as needed.
• Perform all other tasks as assigned.

Licensure: CPA

Experience:

• 5+ years accounting experience with a minimum of 1-2 years in supervisory capacity
• Operational knowledge of GAAP & SOX requirements
• Excellent communication skills driving results while fostering team cohesion
