We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Accountant to lead and oversee the organization’s accounting functions. This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing subcontractor documentation, and overseeing payroll functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable managing a high volume of transactions in a dynamic construction environment.

• Ensure the integrity of accounting data by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions accurately.
• Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue, and expense entries through account analysis.
• Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, posting, and reconciling transactions.
• Manage the general ledger, prepare trial balances, and reconcile entries for monthly and annual close.
• Supervise subcontractor compliance, including contracts, COIs, and payment schedules.
• Prepare financial statements including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and custom reports.
• Generate and process accounts payable and receivable invoices, customer billings, and vendor payments.
• Manage and process payroll accurately and timely in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensure payroll records are up to date and support month-end reconciliations and journal entries.
• Lead external audit processes by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and payroll data and ensure proper database backups.
• Mentor and evaluate junior accounting team members and support department workflow.
• Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or contracting industries.
• Proven experience with payroll processing and reporting.
• Familiarity with managing multiple legal entities and complex general ledger structures.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting/payroll software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar).
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and audit preparation.
