Job summary

Oy Medix Biochemica Ab is seeking a Senior Accountant in St. Louis, MO to support the month-end close and maintain balance sheet integrity.

This role requires independent judgment and ownership of key accounting areas, with responsibility for journal entries, intercompany balances, and fixed assets. The candidate will work with NetSuite and other systems to manage financial data, perform reconciliations, and assist with audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and close experience.
• Experience with intercompany transactions and cash application preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems, NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close process and ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Prepare and review journal entries for monthly close.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies (cash application, unidentified payments, intercompany balances).
• Own intercompany transactions including reconciliation and settlement.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external parties to resolve accounting issues.
• Own bank reconciliations and cash account reconciliation.
• Own royalty calculation process and ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation.
• Assist with audit requests and prepare supporting documentation.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting (capitalization, depreciation, disposals, reconciliations).
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records, and maintaining balance sheet integrity. This role requires independent judgment, ownership of key accounting areas, and the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies. Essential duties include: utilizing NetSuite and other systems to manage financial data, reporting, and transaction processing; preparing and reviewing journal entries as part of the monthly close; investigating and resolving discrepancies (cash application, unidentified payments, intercompany balances); supporting and contributing to the month-end close process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting; reviewing accounts receivable and accounts payable activity and following up on outstanding items; owning intercompany transactions, including reconciliation and settlement; coordinating with internal teams and external parties to resolve accounting issues; identifying process improvements and driving efficiencies within accounting operations; owning bank reconciliations and ensuring timely cash account reconciliation; owning the royalty calculation process and ensuring accurate reporting and reconciliation; ensuring timely application of cash and resolution of unapplied payments; assisting with audit requests and preparing supporting documentation; owning the fixed asset accounting process (capitalization, depreciation, disposals, periodic reconciliation); ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls; the role also involves general office operations in a small team environment.

• 5+ years of accounting experience with strong general ledger and close experience
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
• Strong understanding of month-end close and account reconciliation processes
• Ability to work independently and resolve complex accounting issues
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with intercompany transactions and cash application preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
