Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in General Ledger accounting.
  • Familiar with relevant laws and tax guidelines.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel; experience with non-profit accounting software; Sage 100 or Sage Intacct a plus.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, time management and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Compiles data reports and logs for senior leadership and operations; generates overtime reports.

We are hiring a Senior Accountant!

The Senior Accountant will guide accounting personnel in daily tasks, review financial data to make forecasting decisions, and communicate with company superiors about financial strategies.

About the Role:
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday (9:00 - 5:00 PM).
  • Location: Philadelphia FIGHT, 1233 Locust St FL 3, Philadelphia, PA 19107
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • FSLA status is exempt with an annual rate of $80K.
    • 3 weeks of PTO (4 weeks after 1st year) + 11 paid holidays.

Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required, a Master's in Business Administration preferred.
  2. 5+ years of experience in General Ledger Accounting required.
  3. Must be familiar with relevant laws and tax guidelines.
  4. Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, e-mail, time sheet management, HRIS, internet research, non-profit accounting software, etc. and the ability to learn software applications relevant to your position. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize and produce reports on Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Experience working in SAGE 100 or Sage Intacct a plus.
  5. Strong skillsets in oral and written communication, cultural competence, interpersonal relationships and teamwork, attention to detail, customer service, time management, autonomy, problem solving and organization.
  6. Demonstrated analytical ability, abstract reasoning skills, and excellent organization skills.
  7. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  8. Effective project and process management skills as demonstrated from past work experience.
  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality with compensation data and sensitive financial matters.
  10. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  11. Must be able to exercise good judgment and identify when to elevate issues as appropriate.
  12. Ability to remain solution-focused and respectful in all interactions with staff, co-workers, vendors, and patients.
  13. Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  14. Ability to display a non-judgmental attitude.
Responsibilities include:
  1. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  2. Prepares, monitors and maintains general ledger entries and supporting documentation, including credit card spending, receipt of donations, etc.; reconciles general ledger accounts.
  3. Reconciles bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
  4. Prepares and posts journal entries including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other asset/liability account activity.
  5. Assists with financial reporting and audit preparation.
  6. Compiles or assists with the acquisition of complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior leadership and operations; generates overtime reports for senior leadership and department management.
  7. Monitors and resolves accounting discrepancies on financial statements, etc.; escalates issues to Controller when appropriate.
  8. Builds and maintains relationships with FIGHT vendors; reconciles discrepancies as appropriate.
  9. Assists with implementing sound internal controls and best practices; oversees and/or establishes, updates and maintains electronic files, enters appropriate information into FIGHT's financial databases. Files, archives and purges files as needed.
  10. Responds to inquiries from Finance, HR, senior leadership and other managers for purposes of auditing, budgeting, monthly/annual closing, labor reporting, etc.
  11. Records, processes and reconciles accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions and donations; completes quarterly donation reconciliation reports.
  12. Recommends ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue
  13. Coordinates financial responsibilities and duties between the accounting team.
  14. Assists with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  15. Maintains compliance with all FIGHT policies and procedures. Reports known conduct taken by any FIGHT employee (including yourself) which violates any FIGHT policy or law on which you have been trained, or should know of, such as laws criminalizing theft or violent crimes, and reports the matter to management.
  16. Other duties as assigned to fulfill FIGHT's mission.
