What You'll Do
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist with the monthly financial close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Review and analyze monthly project financial reports and partner with project managers to ensure budgets remain on track.
- Monitor healthcare, pension, and fringe benefit budgets.
- Prepare quarterly financial management reports for executive leadership.
- Perform financial analysis and forecasting to identify expenditure and cost trends.
- Provide accounting and grant administration guidance to project managers and division leadership.
Audit & Compliance
- Support the annual Single Audit process.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Compile data for the Indirect Cost Allocation Proposal (ICAP).
- Assist with the annual Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) valuation process.
- Research accounting standards and recommend improvements to internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Project Leadership
- Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Support Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Grant Administration functions.
- Assist with special finance projects and system enhancements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of:
- GAAP
- Financial reporting
- Budgeting and forecasting
- General ledger accounting
- Account reconciliations
- Computerized accounting systems
- Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification.
- Government audit experience within a public accounting firm.
- Experience with grants, indirect cost allocation (ICAP), and nonprofit or government accounting.
