Job summary

Brilliant® is seeking a Senior Accountant in the Chicago area to join a growing manufacturing accounting team. This newly created role offers exposure to the Controller and a chance to strengthen accounting processes, controls, and procedures.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, enjoys digging into the details behind the numbers, and seeks career growth into higher-level accounting responsibilities. Hybrid work with on-site and remote days is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 2+ years of public accounting/audit experience preferred.
• Manufacturing audit or accounting exposure is a plus.
• Strong understanding of account reconciliations, controls, documentation, and procedures.
• Experience with month-end close is needed.
• Exposure to cost accounting, standard costing, labor, overhead, or inventory accounting is desirable.
• ERP system experience is required.
• SOX/internal controls exposure is preferred.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly and quarterly close processes.
• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Support balance sheet and income statement analysis.
• Assist with manufacturing cost accounting and standard costing.
• Support inventory accounting and analysis.
• Assist with cash flow and reconciliations.
• Support project and lease accounting activities.
• Improve accounting controls, procedures, and documentation.
• Assist with audits and information gathering across teams.

Schedule: Hybrid | 2 Days Onsite, 3 Days Remote

We are partnering with an established manufacturing organization that is looking to add a Senior Accountant to its growing accounting team.

This is a newly created position with significant exposure to the Controller and an opportunity to help strengthen accounting processes, procedures, and controls. The team is specifically interested in someone with a strong accounting foundation who enjoys understanding the detail behind the numbers and wants to continue growing into higher-level accounting responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly and quarterly close


• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations


• Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting


• Support balance sheet and income statement account analysis


• Assist with manufacturing and cost accounting, including standard costing


• Support inventory-related accounting and analysis


• Assist with cash flow and cash reconciliations


• Support project and lease accounting activities


• Help strengthen accounting controls, procedures, and documentation


• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and processes


• Gather information and provide support for internal and external audits


• Partner across the finance team on additional accounting and analytical projects
