Job summary

Syntax Talent Solutions is seeking a Senior Accountant to own key accounting functions, drive timely and accurate financial reporting, and identify opportunities to streamline processes. You will support leadership with robust analysis and structured financial information to enable strategic decisions.

You will lead month-end and year-end closes, enhance internal controls, and partner with management to deliver clear commentary and actionable insights across multi-entity environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred but not required.
• Continued professional education in accounting, finance, or process improvement methodologies is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyse financial reports with clear commentary and variance analysis.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accurate classification per accounting standards.
• Support and refine internal controls; document procedures and recommend enhancements.
• Lead and participate in business process improvements within accounting and finance.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide schedules and explanations as needed.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting through historical data, trends, and insights.
• Resolve complex accounting issues with cross-functional collaboration.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and review of financial statements
• Prepare and analyse financial reports, providing clear commentary and variance analysis to management
• Maintain and improve general ledger integrity, ensuring accurate classification and adherence to accounting standards
• Support and refine internal controls, documenting procedures and recommending enhancements where needed
• Lead and participate in business process improvement initiatives within the accounting and finance function
• Coordinate with external auditors, providing schedules, documentation, and explanations as required
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes by providing historical data, trend analysis, and insights

Key Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or strong Accountant ready to step into a senior-level role
• Background in both public accounting and private industry, with exposure to a mix of clients or business environments
• Strong technical accounting skills, including proficiency with US GAAP and standard accounting practices
• Demonstrated ability to manage a full close process and produce accurate, timely financial statements
• Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements within accounting or finance
• High level of proficiency with accounting software and Excel for reporting, analysis, and reconciliations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and present findings clearly
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Experience with ERP systems and finance process automation tools
• Prior involvement in system implementations, upgrades, or workflow redesign projects
• Exposure to multi-entity or multi-location accounting environments
• Familiarity with cost accounting, project accounting, or revenue recognition in complex settings
• Ability to mentor junior team members and support their development
