Job summary

Coda Search partners with a Brooklyn-based Series C consumer goods company seeking a skilled accountant to lead the monthly close and balance sheet reconciliations. This role focuses on intercompany activity and refining processes to drive efficiency across the organization.

You will manage journal entries, perform variance analysis, and support external auditors during year-end activities, working closely with a five-person accounting team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of three years of accounting experience (consumer goods/CPG or high-growth startup advantageous).
• Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
• Experience with NetSuite is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a results-driven mindset.
• Effective communicator and collaborative teammate in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead the monthly close, including reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Review financial statements and conduct variance analysis with explanatory commentary.
• Oversee general ledger reconciliations and record journal entries.
• Record and reconcile intercompany activity among the company’s entities.
• Prepare and evaluate cost of goods sold and related expenses.
• Facilitate accounting integration as the company opens new locations.
• Lead special initiatives to strengthen processes and procedures.
• Assist with year-end audit by compiling schedules and acting as primary point of contact for external auditors.

The organization has quickly broadened its footprint throughout the United States and continues to expand across numerous locations. As a member of a five-person accounting team, this individual will play a central role in leading the monthly close, managing intercompany activity, refining processes, and driving efficiencies throughout the organization. Because an external accounting partner handles certain cash management responsibilities, this position will concentrate on balance sheet and income statement accounts.

What You’ll Do:

• Support and lead the monthly close, including reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Review financial statements and conduct variance analysis accompanied by explanatory commentary
• Oversee general ledger reconciliations and record journal entries
• Record and reconcile intercompany activity among the company’s entities
• Prepare and evaluate cost of goods sold and associated expenses
• Facilitate accounting integration as the company opens new locations
• Direct special initiatives throughout the organization, pinpointing ways to strengthen processes and procedures
