Job summary

Canon USA in Melville, NY is seeking a Senior Accountant to own general ledger reconciliations, forecasting, reserve valuations, and support for audits and month-end close. The role requires a strong GAAP background, Excel proficiency, and the ability to analyze financial data.

The position offers a full-time hybrid schedule (in-office Mon–Wed with a flexible option for remote days) and a salary range disclosed in the posting. CPA preferred and Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ability to research GAAP.
• Excellent Excel skills.
• CPA license preferred.
• Audit experience with a large regional or international public accounting firm preferred.
• Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly account reconciliations and variance analysis
• Conduct balance sheet trend analysis and prepare financial reports
• Monitor assigned accounts for financial exposure and proactively escalate concerns to management
• Research and resolve account variances and exceptions
• Execute month-end close processes
• Assist with the transmission and reporting of financials
• Test general ledger backup to ensure system and data integrity
• Support physical inventory and fixed asset audits
• Provide documentation and support for internal audits and use tax audits
• Assist team members and managers with special projects
• Ensure all accounting processes and documentation comply with US GAAP and internal corporate policies
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in developing and implementing new accounting procedures

Canon USA in Melville, NY is currently seeking a Senior Accountant (Sr Accountant) responsible for general ledger reconciliations and analysis, financial forecasting, reserve valuations, procedure development, account backup testing, and special projects.

This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

Your Impact

• Perform monthly account reconciliations and variance analysis

About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, plus 5 years of related experience
• Working knowledge of GAAP including experience in and ability to research GAAP and other Authoritative Pronouncements
• Strong Excel skills
• CPA License is preferred
• Audit Experience with a large Regional and/or International Public Accounting Firm is preferred
• Requires strong initiative. Should be able to bring potential solution options to manager along with issues
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, time management and written skills
• Professional proficiency in Spanish is a plus

In accordance with applicable law, we are providing the anticipated salary range for this role, $76,150 - $114,040.
