Job summary

FellowshipLIFE in New Jersey is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This highly visible role involves digging into financials, solving problems, improving processes, and helping others succeed, reporting to the Director of Finance.

You will oversee accounting for Life Plan Communities and affiliated businesses, review statements, mentor 1–2 accounting staff, manage resident revenue and related accounts, and support close, budgeting, audits, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and audit schedules.
• Experience in a multi-entity environment; senior living, healthcare, real estate, or nonprofit experience is a plus.
• Entrance fee, deferred revenue, amortization, or contract-based accounting experience is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and budget activities for FellowshipLIFE communities.
• Review P&L statements, balance sheets, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, work review, and mentoring to 1–2 accounting team members.
• Manage accounting related to resident revenue, entrance fees, deferred revenue, healthcare revenue, and ancillary services.
• Prepare financial analysis, including occupancy, payer mix, aging, revenue trends, and management reporting.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Partner with operational leaders to understand financial results and improve reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, annual audits, and regulatory reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, documentation, and efficiency.
• Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives with the Director of Finance.
