Job summary

FellowshipLIFE in Basking Ridge, NJ is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role supports financial operations across New Jersey, reviewing statements and ensuring accuracy while mentoring 1–2 accounting staff.

The Senior Accountant will oversee resident revenue, entrance fees, deferred revenue, and healthcare revenue, driving improvements in reporting and internal controls. Strong Excel skills and 5+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and audit schedules.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and budget activities for assigned FellowshipLIFE communities.
• Review P&L statements, balance sheets, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, work review, and mentoring to 1-2 accounting team members.
• Manage accounting related to resident revenue, entrance fees, deferred revenue, healthcare revenue, and ancillary services.
• Prepare financial analysis, including occupancy, payer mix, aging, revenue trends, and management reporting.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Partner with operational leaders to understand financial results and improve reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, annual audits, and regulatory reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, documentation, and efficiency.
• Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives with the Director of Finance.
