Job summary

Allegheny Performance Plastics is seeking a Senior Accountant to own key parts of the month-end close, maintain accurate financial reporting and ensure audit readiness in Leetsdale, PA. A core focus is inventory accounting under our standard costing system with analysis of variances to explain product costs and margins.

You will report to the VP of Finance and collaborate with operations and external auditors, supporting cash management, tax packages and ad hoc projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, industry, or both.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and the full-cycle month-end close.
• Hands-on experience with an ERP systems.DELMIAWorks/IQMS a plus.
• Clear written and verbal communication with both finance and non-finance colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned parts of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids and deferred revenue.
• Manage inventory accounting, including valuation, cycle count and physical inventory reconciliations, and reserves for obsolete or slow-moving stock.
• Maintain the standard costing system: update standard costs, analyze purchase price and manufacturing variances, and roll variances into cost of goods sold.
• Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts and fixed asset register, including depreciation.
• Assist with cash management, including daily bank reporting, applying customer receipts (AR) and tracking vendor disbursements (AP).
• Coordinate with external auditors, prepare audit schedules and respond to requests.
• Support tax filings, including sales and use tax, property tax and year-end tax packages for outside preparers.
• Assist with ad hoc projects such as system implementations, new accounting pronouncements and acquisitions.

About the role
