Job summary

Talently is seeking a Senior Accountant in the Greater Lansing Region, Michigan. This hybrid role focuses on ownership of close processes, capital decision validation, and leading a strategy-adjacent accounting function with a strong emphasis on GAAP and SOX compliance.

You will build dashboards, drive automation, and partner with leadership to shape financial outcomes beyond routine reconciliations. CPA-eligible candidates and Power BI experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of progressive accounting experience in a SOX-controlled, audit-ready environment.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP and US GAAP, including depreciation, capitalization, and impairment principles.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly and annual close activities, ensuring accuracy across reconciliations and reporting deliverables.
• Partner with business leaders to validate capital decisions and influence spending decisions.
• Build dashboards and reporting tools that give leadership visibility into financial trends.
• Lead audit readiness efforts, preparing documentation and disclosures for internal and external scrutiny.
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and modernize legacy reporting processes.
• Mentor and develop junior team members as a technical resource across accounting.
• Design and strengthen internal controls to stay ahead of compliance requirements.

My client, one of the most established manufacturing companies in the greater Lansing region, is looking to hire a Senior Accountant. This is a hands-on ownership seat, not a processing role, where you will drive accuracy and compliance rather than execute tasks handed down from above. You will have direct visibility into how capital decisions get made at the leadership level, something most senior accountant seats never offer.
