Job summary

HERACLES Group, Greece's leading building materials company and member of HOLCIM, seeks a Senior Accountant to join the Finance function at head offices. You will manage the full accounting cycle, support month-end and year-end closings, and ensure accurate financial reporting in line with IFRS and internal policies.

The role reports to the Accounting Manager and requires strong analytical skills, English fluency, and collaboration across functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax legislation.
• Proficiency in SAP ERP system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Professional certifications (ACCA, CPA, ACA) are assets.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage full accounting cycle including General Ledger, journal entries, reconciliations and reporting.
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals and provisions.
• Perform GL reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
• Support information and documentation for tax audits and annual statutory audits.
• Participate in improvement and automation of accounting processes.
• Deliver ad hoc requests and participate in special projects.
• Ensure compliance with myDATA requirements and regulations.
• Collaborate with Shared Services Center to support accounting processes.
• Provide accounting support to Fixed Assets and Inventory Accountant.

HERACLES Group, Greece's leading company in the field of building materials and a member of HOLCIM, is seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant to join our Finance function, based at our Head Offices.

Role & Key Accountabilities

The purpose of the role is to ensure the accurate and timely recording and monitoring of accounting transactions, support monthly and year-end closing activities, and maintain the accuracy and completeness of accounting records in line with applicable accounting standards and the company’s internal policies and procedures.

The position reports to the Accounting Manager and works closely with other Finance functions.

• Manage the full accounting cycle, including General Ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Participate in the month-end and year-end closing process.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, and other General Ledger accounting entries.
• Perform General Ledger account reconciliations and support the investigation and resolution of discrepancies.
• Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and management reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
• Support the preparation of information and documentation for tax audits and the annual audit of the Group’s financial statements.
• Participate in the improvement and automation of accounting processes.
• Deliver ad hoc requests and participate in special projects when requested.
• Ensure compliance with myDATA requirements and regulations.
• Collaborate closely with the Shared Services Center (SSC) to support accounting processes and resolve issues.
• Provide accounting support and assistance to the Fixed Assets and Inventory Accountant.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Master's degree will be considered an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a senior accounting role.
• Proven experience in preparing complete financial statements.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, local tax legislation, and accounting best practices.
• Proficiency in SAP ERP system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ACA) will be considered an asset.
