Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Senior Accountant to support day-to-day general accounting activities in our Irving, Texas division. The role covers cash management, general ledger activity, and month-end close processes, with duties including reconciling inter-company activity and ensuring timely tax calculations and filings.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in accounting/finance, strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX, and proficiency in MS Office.

Job Description

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day general accounting activities of the division. This includes general accounting, bank cash management and general ledger activity. This role supports financial activities of the organization by performing the following duties:

• Post cash receipts via Coupa bank statements to the general ledger.
• Communicates with banks as needed for day-to-day transactional problem resolution.
• Month end rebilling and management fees.
• Reconcile inter-company sales and purchases as part of the month end closing process.
• Month end journal entry and support.
• Responsible for timely sales and use tax calculations and filing.
• Support for fixed asset creation and maintenance with plant controllers.
• Preparation of month end SOX control documentation.
• Provide support for annual internal and external SOX/financial audits.
• Assist in month end closing as required.
• Assist in monthly analysis of operating expenses versus budgets.
• Tax documentation requests.
• Follows all food safety procedures and practices to promote our food safety culture.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Knowledge of finance and accounting principles, including U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and reasoning skills with the ability to analyze information and make informed decisions.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to travel approximately 5-10% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• Experience with JDE or similar accounting/ERP software.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Primarily office‑based position requiring frequent sitting and use of computers and office equipment.
• Occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing or balancing.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers and others as required to perform the job.
• Requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10lbs.
• Requires occasional travel to off‑site locations, approximately 5-10%
