Job summary

BHI Senior Living Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial operations across its Life Plan Communities. The role focuses on monthly close, accurate financial statements, and collaboration with senior leaders to ensure timely reporting.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting with 5+ years in finance, strong communication skills, and CPA is a plus. This on-site Indiana-based position offers robust benefits and growth opportunities within a mission-driven nonprofit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Five or more years of experience in finance or accounting with increasing responsibility.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct the monthly close process for assigned communities in collaboration with your supervisor.
• Maintain the close calendar and ensure materially accurate financial statements are prepared and released within established deadlines.
• Prepare and review monthly bank account reconciliations for assigned communities.
• Prepare and post monthly closing journal entries.
• Prepare spreadsheets and supporting documentation for annual audits of BHI Senior Living, Inc. and its affiliates.
• Maintain and reconcile intercompany balances for assigned communities.
• Assist with preparing tax filings, including Forms 990 and 1120, and addressing other tax-related matters.
• Partner with the Senior Accounting Manager, VP of Financial Operations, and corporate and community staff to support general accounting functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Accounting Manager or VP of Financial Operations.
