Job summary

Third Road Management is seeking a Senior Accountant to deliver fractional accounting services to multiple clients across industries. Responsibilities include AR/AP, reconciliations, financial reporting, payroll, and tax filings, with travel to client sites around the greater Chicago metropolitan area.

A CPA is a plus and a Bachelor’s degree is required. Flexible and remote schedules are offered, along with an annual bonus and 401(k).

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in bookkeeping or monthly close for small to mid-size businesses.
• Experience in revenue accounting is strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client projects and deadlines.

Job description

Fractional Senior Accountants at Third Road Management work with multiple clients on a routine basis and are responsible for all accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciling, financial reporting, and general ledger management. They are responsible for building strong relationships with the Client and existing accounting team, and can adapt easily to a variety of industries.

Responsibilities Include:

• Supporting clients in their daily transactional and technical accounting needs.
• Accounts Receivable: Applying payments, recording and collecting receivables (ensuring that all billings are collected in a timely manner according to existing payment terms and contracts).
• Perform and/or review all accounts payable functions including, but not limited to, reviewing invoices and ensuring, if applicable, they are in compliance with vendor agreements, obtaining invoice approvals from appropriate operational managers and ensuring correct coding of invoices to the appropriate accounts.
• Perform and/or review bank, loan, credit card and other general ledger account reconciliations as requested or needed by client.
• Assist client accounting team in balancing the General Ledger by preparing a trial balance and preparing and reviewing reconciling entries.
• Support client accounting team by helping prepare routine monthly financial reports, annual legal entity and tax filings. Also, if applicable, coordinate with auditors to provide documentation as requested.
• Complete payroll processing on a timely basis as determined by client.
• Assist clients and staff in all areas of sales tax compliance. Prepare and review various multi-state sales tax filings.
• Perform and/or review filing or other duties as requested by client.
• Facilitate cash management as needed.
• Build strong relationships with the client and existing team.
• Provide mentorship and oversight for staff accountants.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years experience working with small to mid-size businesses in bookkeeping or monthly close accounting is required.
• Experience in Revenue Accounting strongly preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills, demonstrates ability to manage projects, and juggle a variety of responsibilities simultaneously to meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive and engaging relationships with clients and team members.
• Ability to get along with diverse personalities - tactful, mature, and flexible.
• Must possess a strong ability to manage relationships and communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Adaptable to numerous industries.
• Competent in many systems, preferably Quickbooks Online, Desktop or Enterprise. In general, adaptable to whatever accounting system the clients utilize.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• CPA (active or inactive) is a plus.
• PC/Microsoft Office proficient (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook).
• Willingness to travel throughout greater Chicago metropolitan area to different client sites. This is a full-time role.
