Job summary

ALS in Houston seeks a Senior Accountant to support financial reporting across multiple entities, maintain the general ledger, and assist with month-end and year-end closes using Oracle ERP. You will prepare balance sheet reconciliations and coordinate with internal and external auditors.

This role requires 5–7 years of accounting experience, a bachelor’s in accounting or finance, and strong Excel skills; CPA preferred.

About the Position

The Senior Accountant will play a key role within the Finance team, supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across multiple entities and business segments. This role requires strong accounting knowledge and hands‑on experience with a large ERP platform, preferably Oracle. The Senior Accountant will maintain the general ledger, support the month‑end and year‑end close process, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and provide key support during internal and external audits. This role also contributes to identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function.

Specific Responsibilities

General Ledger Management

• Maintain and review the general ledger
• Record complex journal entries
• Reconcile accounts (bank, balance sheet, etc.)

Month-End and Year-End Close

• Assist in the month‑end close process
• Review entries and adjustments
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure deadlines for financial reporting are met

Financial Reporting

• Ensure reports comply with accounting standards such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Analyze financial results and explain variances
• Prepare monthly financial pack

Audit Support

• Coordinate with internal and external auditors
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
• Address auditor questions and findings

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes
• Implement new accounting systems or automation tools
• Improve efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong accounting knowledge
• Experience working with a large ERP platform (preferably Oracle)
• Experience working with multiple entities and business segments
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Process optimization experience
• Excellent Excel skills; Power BI is a plus

Required Qualifications

• 5-7 years of accounting and finance experience is required
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred
