Job summary

ALS is seeking a Project Manager 1 to lead and coordinate laboratory projects in a fast-paced setting. You will interface with clients, guide method selection, and deliver project reports from initiation to close.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and experience in a laboratory environment is valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred; relevant lab experience valuable.
  • 5+ years of laboratory experience preferred.
  • 0–5 years of project management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.Project Manager 1Position Title:Project Manager 1Generic Position Code/Title:SAL07 Project ManagerBusiness Stream:Environmental, USALocation:Line Manager:Laboratory DirectorDirect Reports:N/AFLSA Status:ExemptPrimary Objective:The Project Manager 1 will be responsible for general project management tasks.Position Duties and Scope:The Project Manager 1 has the following duties:Assist clients with appropriate method selection and offer technical guidance.Prepare project specific reports.Represent ALS at all project meetings.Prioritize and monitor projects.Day to day client communication.Coordinate project sampling duties.Other duties as assigned.Position Requirements/Essential Criteria:Bachelor’s degree is preferred.5+ years of laboratory experience is preferred.0–5 years of project management experience is preferred.Core Competencies:Proficient verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.Must be able to initiate corrective action without prompting and assist co-workers whenever necessary in order to meet deadlines.Must be able to effectively perform duties under pressures arising from large sample volumes and short turn-around times.Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to use (or learn to use) Laboratory Information Management System.Adheres to safety policies and practices.Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities:Follow all company operating procedures, standards, policies, and training to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site.Play an active role in the ALS safety program by correcting or reporting unsafe acts and conditions that are observed during the day-to-day operations to create a zero-injury work environment.Participate in and support HSE initiatives, as required by ALS leadership.Understand and use HSE precautions (such as but not limited to fume hoods and PPE) while working with chemicals and samples of unknown hazards.Ensure the health and safety of staff, contractors, and/or visitors by providing appropriate leadership, due diligence, resources, training, and enforcement for all individuals onsite.Monitor and enforce the health, safety and environment policies, procedures and ensure compliance with the relevant regulations.Actively promote awareness of these policies, procedures, and regulations amongst company personnel.Actively support and participate in all OHS initiatives.
