Job summary

Servco Pacific Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting and Financial Services Automotive Accounting team. You will ensure the integrity of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, support month-end and year-end closes, and assist with audits.

You will collaborate with the Accounting Supervisor to maintain documentation, workflows, and process narratives, and you will train and support accounting staff while driving process improvements across systems and controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • Minimum three years of senior accountant level experience with general ledger and close processes.
  • CPA preferred and GAAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper accounting of transactions, reserves, and other estimates in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
  • Prepare and file regulatory reports and other compliance deliverables on a monthly, annual, and ad-hoc basis.
  • Own the general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts and related reporting.
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules; provide guidance.
  • Complete assigned account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Plan and execute inventory counts with operations and analyze adjustments.
  • Oversee internal and external audits and prepare schedules and explanations.
  • Support stakeholders, resolve issues, and escalate when needed; foster process improvements.

Job description

The Senior Accountant, a key member of the Accounting and Financial Services (AFS) Automotive Accounting team, will ensure the integrity of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, provide accurate financial reporting, support month-end and year-end close processes, and assist with audits. This role involves collaborating with the Accounting Supervisor to develop, maintain, and enhance documentation, workflows, and process narratives, as well as training, developing, and supporting the accounting staff.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper accounting of transactions, reserves, and other estimates in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. Stay current with industry, regulatory, and technical accounting developments to identify and communicate potential impacts.
  • Prepare and file regulatory reports and other compliance deliverables on a monthly, annual, and ad-hoc basis.
  • Ownership over the general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts as assigned, including related monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other schedules prepared by staff accountants ensuring timely completion of all deliverables. Document review comments and provide guidance and other feedback.
  • Complete assigned account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and unreconciled items in a timely manner.
  • Plans, coordinates and executes inventory counts with operations. Timely analyze the resulting adjustments to determine further action needed.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, including preparation or review of schedules, analysis, documentation, and explanations.
  • Provide support services to stakeholders as required, including independently resolving issues impacting assigned areas, serving as an escalation point for accountants, and using professional judgement when to elevate to management.
  • Research errors / irregularities in the accounting process under the Senior Accountant’s ownership to fully understand the underlying causes, then identify and recommend potential solutions.
  • Collaborate with other business units to manage end-to-end workflow processes for accurate and timely transaction recording.
  • Develop, maintain, and review internal controls and process documentation; ensure compliance with such documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement of automotive accounting processes through standardization, scalability, automation, and reduction of manual effort. Assist with evaluating, testing, and adopting automation and emerging system capabilities, including AI-enabled tools, and recommend practical, system-enabled improvements that strengthen controls, improve data accuracy, streamline costing and reconciliation activities, and address risks in legacy workflows.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum three years of senior accountant level work experience with general ledger accounting, period closing, estimates and reserves calculation, account reconciliation, analysis, inventory analysis, and/or financial reporting
  • Diversified and industry experience in retail, manufacturing and automotive and/or work experience with a big-4 national CPA firm preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Technical accounting knowledge (GAAP)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Oracle Financial Cloud and dealer management systems knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical thinker with ability to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions from it
  • Ability to independently and resourcefully seek out ways to find resolution to problems by performing the necessary research to understand the root cause(s) and evaluate various ways that it can be resolved
  • Ability to stay engaged with a critical eye to the details. Ability to have communication and work products be clear and concise. Ability to determine the appropriate level of detail needed in various communications based on audience
  • Ability to know when to take a step back to be able to see how one’s tasks fit into the bigger picture and determines what can be done currently to ensure challenges and issues would be averted downstream in the workflow
  • Ability and innate willingness to be self-motivated to complete the duties that comes with this role. Must be able to be resourceful to acquire knowledge necessary to complete tasks at hand or to resolve issues
  • Ability to embrace teamwork and the belief that we can get more done together; actively considers the impact of issues and challenges to the greater group and timely communicates and shares knowledge
